Watching the bats at sunset
Tour duration: 5 – 6 hrs
Min 2 pax required
Lunch not included.
Leaving the hotel at 01:00pm our first stop will be at Pura Kehen temple dedicated to the god Brahma. The temple dates back to the 11th century and is one of the hidden temples that will cast a spell of spirituality upon you. It is one of the most fascinating Bali temples. In addition to the shrines, there is also a magnificent ficus tree that serves as a belfry – “kulkul”.
After experiencing the meditative atmosphere of Pura Kehen we will visit one of the many beautiful waterfalls that can be found in Bali.
Next stop on this Bali tour will be Kusamba village where you will see the traditional way how the Balinese produce salt from sea water.
We should make it just in time to Goa Lawah temple for an amazing sunset spectacle. Goa Lawah dates back to the 11th century and it is one of the 9 most important temples in Bali. Its main temple part is a cave with millions of bats. Every evening as the sun sets, the little beasties fly out, as a huge dark cloud, to hunt for insects. Except for the bats, only certain priests are allowed to enter the cave.
Leaving the bats to their hunting, we will head back to Padangbai.
